The taken are darkness-corrupted entites origanateing from multiple species, ripped out of the material realm into the Ascendent realm, and returned with paracausal abillities to sute thier given purpose. The taken were first encountered as by humanitiy as the personal army of Oryx also known as the taken king. who obtained the power to take after slaying the worm god Akka the worm god of secrets and inscribed the secrets of taking on the tablets of ruin. However the power to take was seceratlly granted to Oryx by the witness, who could utilize the power on a much grander scale. being able to move entire worlds between reallities.
the cabal a race of hulking, vaguely hummanoid species with a vast intersteller empire and militaristic culture that came to earth and the surrounding planets for the tarritory and resorses. the cabal fight everyone, and make wepons that they use to conquer others. the cabal come to the sol system after the colapse makeing a strong military presence on mars lock ina war with the local Vex. After the taken war Dominus Ghaul brought his red legion to the sol system seizing the last city and the traviler itself in a suprize attack. starting the red war, and after Dominus's demise the red legion split into many warring factions. later Calus the formmer cabal empire who was exiled the rome amimlessly on a Leviathan arived in the sol system inviting guardians to join his ellite shadow squadrens, and later pledged his loyalty to the witness.
The hive are an ancent death-woshiping undead faction of aliens race that was split into three groups. One lead by Oryx the hive king, Savathûn hive godess of diseption, and Xivu Arath the hive god of war. who were all sisters that made a deal with the worm gods so they could have power and the survival of their race at the cost that they will always seek a conquest. The hive fight with each other, and belive only the strongest deserve to survive.
The fallen are allian pirates that came to scavage humanity's golden age technology. are the remiants of a mighty civilization that flurished under the travalers grace before the witness and his black fleat arived causing the traviler to flee. The fallen followed the travaler to the sol system decaring war on humanity and the guardians in seeking to reclaim the Traveler. The fallen are sperated into different Houses that fight each other for tarritory. there is the house of Devils, House of Kings, House of Winter, House of Wolves. there is also the House of Light witch alied with the guardians after Cayde's death.
The vex a race of macanicale beings that came to shape everything in their own brutal image. The vex were made by the haert of the black garden. The black garden is A realm outside of normal space and time, once home to the Black Heart. The Sol Divisive Vex tend to this mysterious location. Stated by a NPC "the stranger" in destiny "They brought us here. The Vex. Evil so dark, it despises other evil". the vex have diffrent groups with in their code that they refer to as diffrent agendas. these agendas are called the Sol divition A collective that religously worship the darkness, the Hezen Protective and Corrective to factions on venus on deticated to protecting the valt of glass, and the other to distroying the fallen. fineally the Descendants and precursors Factions from diffrent points in the vex timeline that are encountered in the valt of glass.
The scorn are a hord of undead Fallen spawned by darness-tainted ether, initially created by the were made by the Taken Ahamkara Riven of a Thousand Voices using wish-magic. under the leadership of Fikrul, the Fanatic and Uldren Sov. The Scorn orcastrated a massive breakout from the prison of elders, and killed the hunter vanguard Cayde-6. Before going on to spread acrossed much of the reef and the dreaming city. many became strongly intrested in the witness and it's followers who used them as pawns agenst the guardians.
Cayde-6 was fighting Prince Uldren Sov and the Scorned Barons during a prison riot in the prison of elders. After killing many scorn he reveled his gost in order to heal. however Pirrha, the Rifleman shot his ghoast before he could ultimently severing his conection to the light of the traveler. however cayde-6 still stoud and aimed his weapon in atempts to survive before being through a wall by Reksis Vahn, the Hangman, and then being shot and killed by Uldren Sov with the ace of spaids Cayde-6's weapon.

Duing one of the more recent additions Cayde is brought back by the light of the traveler and wish magic. in the final shape cayde is seen in the pale heart of the traveler Cayde-6 was made in the pale heart in side the traveler by Crow's wish to be come strong like Cayde-6. Crow then later gose into the pale heart and finds Cayde-6's seventh life. Cayde-6 helps the guardians defaet the witness, however the witness destory's the ghosts. Cayde-6 then uses the light manefesting his body to bring them back ensureing the Guardian's future and died on his own terms.
based on my resaerch and no clear number of years because the lure of the game dose not give us the years between each reset. However he was probibly around 1000 or more years old when he sacrifced himself for the ghosts
